Frequently asked questions
These ceremonies are held on June 16 at the MU. They last approximately one hour, and are organized by school or major. Graduate names are called, and grads walk across stage individually to greet the Dean and receive their graduation gift, a College of Business stole.
Commencement is held on June 17 in Reser Stadium, lasts approximately 3 hours, and includes a processional, commencement speaker, and announcement of doctoral graduates. Graduates at all levels also receive their physical diplomas but do not have their names called individually.
You must register separately for each ceremony that you would like to attend. Registering only for OSU Commencement does not register you for the College of Business Ceremony, and vice versa. You are welcome to attend both, but you must register separately for both.
Although there is no real dress code, many graduates and guests choose to dress up for this special day. We suggest Business Casual wear, and consider how you want to look in photos from your graduation day. Regalia (cap and gown) is optional, but you are welcome to wear it!
Please contact the Office of the Registrar with any questions about diplomas, as those are handled by the university itself and not the College of Business. The only thing given out at the College of Business Ceremonies will be a gift from the College of Business.
Please do! We want you to be able to celebrate with your guests and loved ones. There is no guest limit for the 2023 College of Business Undergraduate Graduation Ceremonies, but we do ask that you let us know how many guests you expect to bring with you when you register for your ceremony.
You must register for and attend the appropriate Graduation Ceremony for your major. When you register for the ceremony, an order will be placed for your stole and you will be presented with your stole at the graduation ceremony. You must attend a ceremony IN PERSON in order to receive a stole.
Graduation stoles are designed for graduating seniors who attend the Graduation Ceremonies in person. You must attend the ceremony in order to receive your stole as they are a gift for those who attend. Thank you for understanding.
You can borrow one! Loaner stoles will be available for lending at the Career Success Center in Austin Hall. You will need to provide your student ID in order to borrow a stole, and you will be required to return it within 24 hours. Gift stoles will not be distributed early or outside of ceremonies.
You are welcome to attend both major ceremonies if you would like, but it is not required. Please register for both ceremonies in order to indicate your attendance if you plan to attend both. If you attend two ceremonies, you will receive only one stole.
The Innovation Management, Retail Management, and Hospitality Management majors fall under the Business Administration program, so please register for the 4:30pm Business Administration ceremony.
You're welcome to attend the Business Administration ceremony at 4:30pm. Please register under this time slot to let us know.
Physical tickets will not be provided, and guests do not need to check in. Graduates must check in by name at the registration table, where their names will be checked against the registration sheet. Guests can be seated immediately without checking in.
No, reserved seating is NOT available. Seating is first-come, first-served.
Visitor parking information and maps can be found at the OSU Transportation Services website. Parking is free on campus on June 16th. Guests are welcome to use the Beaver Bus. Guests can also be dropped off at the loading zone in front of the Memorial Union, near the corner of Jefferson & 26th.
The College of Business Graduation Ceremonies are a rain or shine event. Although umbrellas are not permitted during the ceremonies, sun visors or rain ponchos are suggested in case of rain. Sunscreen is recommended.
We will be hiring a photographer for all of the college's graduation ceremonies. All students will be photographed as they cross the stage. All photographs will be uploaded to the Graduation Ceremonies webpage following the event.
Unfortunately, programs are not available prior to the event. Programs will be available at the Graduation Ceremonies.
Yes, the ceremonies will be livestreamed on business.oregonstate.edu/graduation-2023.
